LEARNING OBJECTIVE
- At the end of the lesson, students will be able to count forwards and backward in a known sequence from any given number and without having to start from 1. They will also know how to predict what number comes next in a sequence of numbers.
A NOTE FOR THE TEACHER
- When teaching counting in sequence, take note of the following:
- Counting on from a number is an important concept for students.
- Itβs important to start with concrete examples using blocks or other manipulatives when teaching number sequences.
- Students do not need to have an understanding of what the numbers mean or of place value yet. This will follow in Operations and Algebraic thinking.
