LEARNING OBJECTIVE
- At the end of the lesson, students will be able to join simple shapes to form larger ones, e.g, combining three diamonds to create a hexagon. They will be able to describe objects in their environment.
A NOTE FOR THE TEACHER
- When teaching students how to compose shapes, try the following in your lesson:
- So far, students will have learned about shapes independently, rather than in conjunction with other shapes. Now is the time to get students thinking about how simple shapes can be combined to compose larger shapes.
- Young children love puzzles, so draw on their natural curiosity.
- Some children will need the assistance of design cards, while others may not.
