LEARNING OBJECTIVE
- At the end of the lesson, students will be able to convert fractions with denominator 10 into the equivalent fractions with denominator 100. Upon learning this, they will know how to add two fractions with respective denominators of 10 and 100.
A NOTE FOR THE TEACHER
- When expressing fractions from tenths to hundredths, take note of the following:
- Remind that a tenth and a hundredth have denominators 10 and 100 respectively.
- Remember that a hundredth is a smaller piece than a tenth of a whole.
- Converting a fraction with denominator 10 into a fraction with denominator 100 means multiplying 10 to both the numerator and denominator respectively.
THEORY
- A fraction with denominator 10 (a tenth) can be expressed into a fraction with denominator 100 (a hundredth) with an equivalent value.
- Dividing a whole into 10 equal parts produces the equation 1 Γ· 10 = 1/10
