LEARNING OBJECTIVE:
- At the end of the lesson, students will be able to build a two-digit number with groups of tens and ones. Students will be able to add or subtract a multiple of 10 from a number.
A NOTE FOR THE TEACHER:
- When teaching adding and subtracting in multiples of ten, take note of the following:
- It’s important for students to not simply guess.
- Use visual guides, such as a hundred chart, so that a pattern can be easily established.
- Ensure that a student recognizes the pattern of adding and subtracting in 10s so that numbers that are not round numbers can be easily added to or subtracted from.
