Ratios are pairs of numbers that say how much of one thing compares to another. They can be written in three different ways: with the word to, with a colon, or as a fraction.
What is the difference between a ratio and a proportion?
Sometimes ratios and proportions get confused and people think of them as the same. If a ratio is a pair of numbers which says how much one thing compares to another, then a proportion is an equation which relates two ratios together.
For example, 3/4 is also equal to 6/8. They are in proportion to one another. 6/8 is also proportional to 12/16 and so on.
This comprehensive set of ratio and proportion worksheets contains eight ready-to-use worksheets that will help students of all abilities to learn, understand and apply the principles of ratios and proportions.
This bundle includes the following ratio and proportion worksheets:
Introduction to Ratios Worksheet
This is a beginner worksheet which introduces students to ratios using shapes and is good practice for writing ratios in three different ways.
Farmyard Ratios Worksheet
In this worksheet, students will study the farmyard picture and complete the ratio table answering questions about the animals and objects in the scene.
Ratio Word Problems Worksheet
A set of written questions designed to help students think about ratios in real life situations and work out the correct solution.
