CHILDHOOD AND EDUCATION
- Damian Lamonte Ollie Lillard Sr. was born on July 15, 1990 in Oakland, California.
- His parents, Houston Lillard Sr. and Gina Johnson, and two siblings lived in East Oakland and his love for basketball festered in his birth town.
- His childhood interest in basketball did not immediately show results until high school. Damian had to transfer schools in order to earn playing time.
- His transfer to Oakland High School eventually improved his game, averaging 22.4 points per game.
- At the end of high school, he was regarded as a two-star prospect by ‘Rivals.com’ for recruitment into college on the basis of sports.
- Lillard went on to play for Weber State after he was offered a scholarship.
- He earned Big Sky Conference Freshman of the year and also first-team All-Big Sky honours.
- He had a good year of basketball and soon won his second ‘Big Sky Player of the Year Award’ (2010–2011).
- Lillard became the second-highest scorer in the history of Weber State and the 5th top score in the history of Big Sky.
- He then decided to skip his senior season to enter the 2012 ‘NBA’ draft.
- In May 2015, Lillard finished his degree in Professional Sales from Weber State University.
NBA CAREER
- At the 2012 NBA draft, Lillard was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers as its sixth (6th) overall pick.
- In his NBA debut, Lillard registered 23 points, 11 assists, joining Allen Iverson and few others on the feat.
- He also set the record for being the rookie with the most assists in an NBA debut since Jason Kidd in 1994.
- By the end of his first season, he was unanimously voted the “Rookie of the Year.”
- In the 2013-2014 season, he became the first NBA player to participate in 5 events; Skills Challenge, Rising Star Challenge, Three-Point Contest, Slam Dunk Contest, and the All-Star Game at the NBA All-Star Weekend.
- In 2015, he signed a US$ 120-million contract for five years with the Trail Blazers.
- He became the fastest player in NBA to have scored 600 three-pointers in 247 games. He also became the fastest Trail Blazer to reach 15,000 assists and 5000 points in 248 games.
- By the 2016-2017 season, he became the first NBA player to score more than 27 points in each of his team’s first five games of the season.
- He was the recipient of the Magic Johnson Award for his exceptional play in the courts and cooperative dealings with the media and public.
- He became the fastest Blazer and the eighth NBA player to register 10,000 points and 2,500 assists in his first 6 seasons.
- In his 2018-2019 season, Lillard become the fastest player of his team to earn 12,000 points.
- He also led his team to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2000.
- An injury on the ribs however slowed his performance thus losing to the Warriors in a four – game sweep.

- He is a hip-hop artist and a rapper, who encourages participants to submit a video or a verse on Instagram every Friday with the hashtag #4BarFriday.
- On October 21, 2016, he released his debut album ‘The Letter O.’
- He is dating his college girlfriend from Weber State University, Kay’la Hanson, who is pursuing a degree in medicine. Together, they have a child he named Damian Jr. born on 2018.
- He has a signature shoe line, known as ‘Adidas Dame,’ that glows in the dark and has a neon-blue midsole.
- ‘Adidas Dame’ is recognized as one of the best-looking skating shoes, and Lillard is often seen wearing them while skating with his fans in Portland.
- He has endorsement deals with several companies that include; Hulu, Foot Locker, Spalding, Moda Health and others.
