EARLY AND PERSONAL LIFE
- On June 21, 1982, Prince William Arthur Philip Louis Windsor, known as Prince William was born in London, England. He’s the eldest son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
- Young William attended Mrs. Mynors Nursery School in West London, followed by the Wetherby School in Kensington, and Ludgrove School in Wokingham.
- In 1995, with the influence of his grandfather, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, young William entered Eton College. As a secondary student, William excelled in academics and sports. He enjoyed sports like skiing, shooting, fishing, and horseriding.
- His upbringing and development as a child was one of the main focuses of the Windsor Castle since he is directly in line to the British throne after Prince Charles, his father.
- In 1996, his parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana divorced. The following year, his mother died in a car accident in Paris, France.
- Many viewed the Prince as a well-mannered and responsible man as compared to his younger brother, Prince Harry.
- While attending St. Andrew’s University, William met Kate Middleton, who was then a commoner. On November 16, 2010, the long term couple announced their engagement
- On April 29, 2011, the couple tied the knot at Westminster Abbey. Prince William was also conferred by the Queen as the Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn, and Baron Carrickfergus.
- On July 22, 2013, Kate Middleton gave birth to their first son, Prince George Alexander Louis at St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington (same hospital where Princess Diana gave birth to William and Harry). Royal births followed on May 2, 2015 (Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana) and on April 23, 2018 (Prince Louis Arthur Charles).
DUTIES AS PRINCE
- After his graduation in Eton, William travelled around South America and Africa.
- In 2005, he received his degree in geography at Scotland’s St. Andrew’s University.
- In 2006, he joined the royal Military Academy Sandhurst as a military cadet, following Prince Harry. After two years, he was appointed to be a Royal Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter before training as a rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force.
- In 2007, he and his brother organized a benefit concert to raise funds and commemorate their mother’s legacy.
- Like his father and grandfather, Prince William served as the president of the British Sub-Aqua Club in 2014.
- In 2015, Prince William worked as a pilot for Bond Air Services, and became the first British royal heir to work in the private sector.
- Released in 2017, the brothers commissioned two documentaries to honor their mother, first, Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, and Diana, 7 Days.
- Like his mother, Prince William became a patron of Centrepoint, a charity that focuses on helping homeless people.
