- Russell Carrington Wilson was born on November 29, 1988 at Cincinnati, Ohio, United States to Harrison Benjamin Wilson III, and Tammy Wilson.
- Wilson started playing football at the age of four, and played his first organized game in sixth grade for the Tuckahoe Tomahawks youth football team.
- During his high school years, he attended Collegiate Preparatory School was twice named the Richmond Times-Dispatch Player of the Year.
- During his college football career, he joined the NC State Wolfpack football team and led the team in the 2010 Champs Sports Bowl before transferring the following year.
- He then played for the Wisconsin Badgers football team for one season and finished with 33 passing touchdowns and a third team All-American by Yahoo! Sports.
- By 2012 Wilson began training for the NFL Scouting Combine at the IMG Madden Football Academy while waiting for his chances in National Football League (NFL).
NFL Career
- In the 2012 NFL Draft, Russell Wilson was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round. He was the 75th pick overall and the sixth quarterback selected.
- In his first season, Wilson earned the Rookie of the Week honors in a victory over the New York Jets on November 11.
- By the end of the regular season, he further the earned NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month honors for December and ranked fourth in the NFL in passer rating (100.0).
- Wilson then led the Seahawks to the postseason in his rookie year with a stellar performance.
- The following season, he earned his second NFC Offensive Player of the Week award, finishing the regular season with 26 touchdown passes, 9 interceptions, and a 101.2 passer rating.
- For the second time, he led the team to Super Bowl XLVIII victory, becoming the second black starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl.

- The following season (2015), he was extended to a 4-year contract. Despite the team not reaching the postseason, he still broke franchise records and ranked 17th on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2016.
- For the third time, Wilson was also selected to play for the 2016 Pro Bowl and was named the Pro Bowl offensive MVP.
- In the 2016 season, Wilson suffered two minor injuries (ankle and left knee) but still started all 16 games in the season.
- The Seahawks made the playoffs, but were defeated by the Atlanta Falcons in the Divisional Round.
- Wilsonβs 2017 season, he was recognized as the winningest quarterback in a player’s first six seasons. Although his team failed to reach postseason, Wilson was the league’s leader in touchdowns thrown.
- The Seahawks lost many Pro Bowl starters in the offseason of 2018 so they were expected to have a longshot in the postseason. However, Wilson led the team to the postseasonβs wildcard race. Although they lost, this proved the teamβs resilience.
- He also set career franchise records with most quarterback regular-season wins (75) and most touchdowns (196). Wilson was then selected to the Pro Bowl for the sixth time in his career.

- Wilson signed another four-year extension with the Seahawks and he did not disappoint, leading the team to postseason and ranked 2nd on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2020.
- The 2020 season also landed the Seahawks to PS despite early loss against the Los Angeles Rams.
- Wilson finished the 2020 season with 4,212 passing yards, 40 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions – once again breaking the Seahawks franchise records he set.
Personal Life and Endeavors
- Wilson was named Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year for his community service throughout the entirety of his career, including Tuesday visits at the Seattle Children’s Hospital.
- He is also a senior editor at The Players’ Tribune, a project that gives athletes an online writing platform in an effort to bring them closer to the fans.
- Besides NFL, he is also quite active in the baseball scene where he plays for Yankees’ Double-A affiliate, the Trenton Thunder. He also appeared in New York Yankees vs. Atlanta Bravesβ game as second baseman in 2018.
- Wilson is married to American R&B singer Ciara and has a daughter and son.
