Early Life
- Thomas Müller was born on September 13, 1989 in Weilheim, Bavaria, Germany.
- He grew up in Pähl, a Bavarian municipality in the Weilheim-Schongau district.
- His parents are Klaudia and Gerhard Müller. He has a younger brother named Simon.
- Müller began playing football as a child with TSV Pähl. He easily dominated youth football as he scored more than 100 goals during a season.
Club Career
- In 2000, he began training with the youth teams of FC Bayern München. He participated in the 2007 Under-19 Bundesliga league.
- In 2008, Müller scored during his debut match for Bayern Munich’s reserve team. The same year, he debuted for the club’s senior team. He made regular appearances in the Bundesliga as a substitute.
- Müller officially signed with Bayern Munich’s first team for the 2009–10 season.
- Though he started the season as a substitute, Müller quickly became a starter as he scored goals for the club.
- In September 2009, he was declared the Bundesliga Player of the Month.
- In May 2010, Bayern won the Bundesliga. Müller finished the season as one of the players with the most goals and assists. He was also named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season.
- Bayern won the DFB-Pokal final against Werder Bremen. They also finished the Champions League as runners-up.
- Müller scored in the match that won Bayern the 2010 DFL-Supercup.
- Though Müller briefly went through a slump, he eventually maintained his goal-scoring ability, but Bayern ended the season without titles.
- In the 2011–12 season, Bayern finished as the Bundesliga runners-up, DFB-Pokal runners-up, and Champions League runners-up. Müller was ranked 13th for the 2011 FIFA Ballon d’Or.
- The 2012–13 season was successful for Bayern as they won the Champions League, DFB-Pokal, and Bundesliga, with Müller as one of the top scorers of the tournaments. They also won the 2012 DFL-Supercup.
- Bayern topped the 2013–14 DFB-Pokal and Bundesliga once more. Additionally, they won the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
- Due to his consistent performance, Müller was one of the contenders for the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Award and FIFA Ballon d’Or in 2013 and 2014.
- Despite failing to defend the DFB-Pokal, Bayern finished as the champions of the 2014–15 Bundesliga, with Müller as one of the top scorers.
- Bayern defended their Bundesliga title the following season. They also topped the DFB-Pokal. Müller was one of the top scorers of both tournaments. Soon after, they won the 2016 DFL-Supercup.
- He was one of the contenders for the 2016 UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Award. During the 2016–17 season, Bayern topped the Bundesliga once more.
- Bayern won the DFL-Supercup after defeating Borussia Dortmund. They successfully defended their title in 2018.
- After helping Bayern top the league once more, Müller was included in the 2017–18 Bundesliga Team of the Season.
- Müller won his eighth Bundesliga title and fifth DFB-Pokal during the 2018–19 season.
- Bayern was especially successful during the 2019–20 season as they won the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and Champions League. Müller was included in the UEFA Squad of the season and made the most assists in the Bundesliga. Additionally, Bayern won the 2020 DFL-Supercup and UEFA Super Cup. Though Müller did not participate in the final, Bayern won the FIFA Club World Cup.

International Career
- Müller began playing for Germany’s under-16 team in 2004.
- He moved up to the under-19 team in 2007, and the under-20 team the following year.
- He debuted for the under-21 team in 2009. In 2010, he was called up to the senior team.
- Müller participated in the 2010 FIFA World Cup where they finished third.
- He also won the Golden Boot and the Best Young Player Award.
- Müller stood out as Germany won the 2014 World Cup. He won the Silver Boot and Silver Ball and was included in the All-Star Team.
- He came 6th in the 2015 FIFA Ballon d’Or.
- He participated in the 2018 World Cup.
- After being briefly excluded from the national team, Müller was called up for Euro 2020.
Outside of Football
- In 2009, Müller married German equestrian Lisa Trede.
- In June 2011, he became an ambassador for Young Wings, a German organization for children recovering from trauma.
- Müller became a brand ambassador for Gillette in 2014 and the Italian food manufacturer Barilla in 2016.
- He has two dogs named Micky and Murmel.
- Because of the pride, Müller has given his hometown, he was given the Bavarian Order of Merit in 2019.
- In February 2021, Müller tested positive for COVID-19.
