- Bohol is an island province that can be found in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.
- Bohol province consists of the island itself and about 70 other minor surrounding islands.
- Bohol is also considered as the tenth largest island of the Philippines.
- Bohol province is a popular destination not only for locals but also to foreigners for its beaches and resorts.
- Bohol also plays a role in the history of the country as it was the home of the eighth president of the Philippines, Carlos P. Garcia.
- Among the many attractions in Bohol, the most popular is the Chocolate Hills.
GEOGRAPHY
- Bohol is located in the Central Visayas region that is bordered to the west by Cebu, to the northeast by Leyte, and to the south by Mindanao.
- Bohol is separated from Cebu by the Cebu Strait.
- Aside from the main island itself, Bohol is also composed of about 70 other smaller islands, the largest of which are Panglao Island, which faces Tagbilaran in the southwest, and Lapinig Island in the northeast.
- Bohol’s terrain is mainly hilly with almost half of the island being covered in limestone.
- Bohol has around 100 springs, around 170 creeks, and four (4) main rivers.

ADMINISTRATIVE DIVISIONS
- Bohol is divided into 47 municipalities, 1 component city, and 1,109 barangays.
- Tagbilaran City is the only component city in Bohol, and it is also the capital city of the province.
- Tagbilaran City shares its boundaries with the towns of Cortes, Corella, and Baclayon.
TARSIER
- Bohol is also known for being home to tarsiers.
- In 1996, the Philippine Tarsier Foundation was established in Corella, Bohol to help conserve and protect tarsiers.
- Tarsiers are considered to be smallest living primates that exist in several Southeast Asian countries.
- The Philippine Tarsier, according to the IUCN Red List of Endangered Species, is near to threatened.
INFRASTRUCTURES
- The main port in Bohol province is the Bohol-Panglao International Airport that can be found on Panglao Island.
- The Bohol-Panglao international Airport is considered as an international airport by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines. However, the airport currently only serves domestic flights.
- The literacy rate in Bohol is high, and some of the learning institutions that can be found in Bohol include Bohol Island State University (BISU), University of Bohol (UB), and Tagbilaran City College (TCC).
