- On May 22, 1987, in Belgrade, Serbia, Yugoslavia, Novak Djokovic was born to Srdan and Dijana. His mother is from Croatia, and his father is from Serbia.
- His family runs a tennis academy in addition to eateries. In addition to his father, uncle, and aunt being good skiers, Djokovic’s soccer-playing father was a high-level player.
- He was first introduced to tennis when he was four years old.
- He was discovered by the Serbian tennis player and coach, Jelena Genčić, in his parents’ fast food restaurant at Mount Kopaonik during the summer of 1993.
- She was astounded by his superb performance for someone so young. She continued to train the rising talent until 1999.
- Genčić arranged for him to practice with former Croatian tennis star Nikola Pili for his subsequent development.

- In 2003, Djokovic started his professional career. At the 2008 Australian Open, he defeated Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer to win his first major title, breaking their 11-match winning streak.
- In the tournament’s Adelaide final in 2007, Djokovic triumphed over Chris Guccione. At the Australian Open, he was defeated by Roger Federer in the fourth round and went on to lose.
