- Cristiano Ronaldo was born on February 5, 1985 in Madeira, Portugal, but grew up in Santo Antonio, Funchal.
- Cristiano’s parents are Jose Dinis Aveiro, who is a gardener, and Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro, a cook.
- His given name “Ronaldo” was taken after the name of former US President Ronald Reagan.
- He and his three older siblings were raised in a Catholic home.
- When he was 15 years old, Cristiano Ronaldo was diagnosed with a racing heart condition and he had to have a heart surgery to correct it.
Career Beginnings
- From 1992 to 1995, Cristiano Ronaldo played for the amateur team called Andorinha, then later devoted two years to the football club Nacional.
- In 1997, when he was 12 years old, Cristiano Ronaldo played on a three-day trial with Sporting CP.
- When Cristiano Ronaldo was 14 years old, he had confidence that he could play semi-professionally.
- Consented by his mother, he stopped his education so he could focus on football.
