- Students must understand that partitioning is about equal divisions.
- This lesson forms the foundation of understanding fractions.
THEORY:
- Your students have already learned how to compose and decompose shapes, but now itβs about learning to divide into equal portions. This starts with basic shapes and becomes more complex. By learning the concepts of halves and quarters, students will learn to solve story problems involving fractions. As students understand the concept of fairness, use this in your lessons!
- These circles are divided into two equal parts. They are divided in half.
