What causes earthquakes?

Earthquakes are primarily caused by the movement of tectonic plates beneath the Earth’s surface. These plates are constantly shifting due to the heat and pressure within the Earth’s mantle. When two plates suddenly slip past each other along a fault line, it releases energy in the form of seismic waves, resulting in an earthquake.

How does the water cycle work?

The water cycle, also known as the hydrological cycle, is the continuous movement of water on, above, and below the surface of the Earth. It involves processes such as evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and runoff. Water evaporates from oceans, lakes, and rivers due to solar energy, forming clouds. When these clouds cool, water vapor condenses into droplets and falls back to the Earth as precipitation. What is the greenhouse effect?

How are mountains formed?

What causes seasons on Earth?

Seasons on Earth are caused by the tilt of the Earth’s axis as it orbits the sun. During the Northern Hemisphere’s summer solstice, which occurs around June 21st, the North Pole is tilted towards the sun, resulting in longer days and warmer temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere. Conversely, during the winter solstice around December 21st, the North Pole is tilted away from the sun, leading to shorter days and colder temperatures. The opposite is true for the Southern Hemisphere. The equinoxes, around March 21st and September 22nd, mark the times when the sun crosses the celestial equator, resulting in roughly equal day and night lengths globally.
